ODD
Oppositional defiant disorder is a behavioural condition distinguished by a consistent pattern of defiant, disobedient and violent behaviours towards figures of authority. Children with ODD could frequently fight with adults, refuse to follow rules or even engage in intentionally provocative activity.
Common Symptoms of ODD include:
- Defiance or refusal to comply with rules
- Frequent defiance or refusal to comply with rules
- Temper tantrums and angry outbursts
- Blaming everyone else for their own behaviour
- Deliberately annoying or upsetting others
- Difficulty maintaining friendships or social relationships

Intervention Techniques:
- Parent Management Training: Providing parents with the skills necessary for being able to enhance communication and dealing with problematic behaviour.
- Individual Therapy: Creating a safe environment for children to express their feelings, gaining coping skills and developing healthier ways of dealing with their problems.
- Teaching social skills, empathy and conflict resolution approaches to better interact with peers and figures of authority.
- Anger Management, to help them think and feel their emotions through without unknowingly hurting others.
